My name is Matthew Alcazar, I’m writing you as an Independent Candidate for the Iowa House of Representatives, District 49, the seat is currently held by Hellen Miller. As of today I have not heard of any other candidates running for the seat. I'm running for public office because of the current economic and political climate. In my mind running as an Independent is the only option for me, because I have never been affiliated with any party. I also feel if I was to join a party now, just for a better chance of getting elected I would be subjugating my beliefs before I was even elected in to office. This is one of the problems I see with most of the current politicians, they are charged with the duty to defend the Constitution and rights of the individual. I feel that they have lost sight of what their job is, because it is just a service job. We need to remove the career politicians from office and get everyday Americans into office so we can set term limits. Stop them from Voting in pay raises and get rid of the Pork put into so many bills. This isn't a one man job but if we can get a few servants to the people into office we might be able to undo some of the damaged that has been done while the American people trusted the people we elected. I can't say that I'm the most knowledgeable candidate for the job, but I am willing to listen and serve the people. The Marine Corp Motto still holds it's meaning for me. “Stemper Fidelis, Always Faithful to God, Country, and Corp”.

I'm 40 years old, and have been married for 15 years to my wife Amy, and we have 2 sons and a daughter: Jordan (14), Miles (12), and Sydnee (10). The Idea that my children will have to try and pay back the dept that is out of control from decades of corruption is unjust to them. For them to be in dept before they have even begun to think of their future simply put is Wrong.

I would welcome the opportunity to have a conversation with you about my candidacy and the issues. I can be contacted by E-mail (malcazar2010@live.com) or by phone at (515) 570-1456 or (515) 570-3302.

Thank you for your time

What are you hearing regarding polls in HD 90 race? Seems like Burgmeier has very strong momentum going into election day, but wondering if the Dems will try to steal another election with large volume of shady absentee votes, like they've done so frequently over the past couple election cycles, etc.

We've got to get out the vote for Burgmeier, as EVERY legal vote is going to need to be cast!!!

Have I lost my mind? Why would someone have to lose their mind to ask a question - a legitimate question that concerns a sizable minority of people in the state.

No, I haven't lost my mind. Instead, I think the real problem is that too many people have lost their ability to question things - to think outside the box. I have to agree with Mr. Bregar... statistics show time and time again that home schooling is the most effective, efficient, and cheapest way of educating children. Whether people want to embrace home schooling or not, it's here to stay, and today's home schooled children will be tomorrow's leaders.

Ms. Johnson,

Just what is wrong with Ms. Farriers comment. Is it the idea of homeschooling children. Let me guess you think that all children need to attend the failed indoctrination centers that our schools have become. They no longer teach children to think for themselves and instead teach that they need to all think alike. I would be willing to bet that within the next couple of decades the leaders of this nation will be more and more likely to be homeschooled children.

Ms. Johnson,

Could you please explain the supposed lies about the health care plan? But first I must ask you to read the bill before you answer.

As for fueling the mistrust of the President. His own actions and comments are more than enough to breed mistrust of him.

As for having lost the election. That may be, but that doesn't mean that Republicans need to roll over and play dead when they see something that they feel would hurt our country. That is their job.
